-Time wasters-

Yes, we’re all guilty of not making the most of our time with so much distractions around us it can be rather difficult to stay focus on a single task. But just because something is difficult to do doesn’t it can’t be done. There are multiple habits, items and routines that stops us from being more productive with our time, for example…

  1. Cell Phones.

There use to be a time when a cell phone’s only purpose was to make a phone call, can you believe it? but they’ve become so advance in the last 30 years that we’re now walking around with mini modern computers in our pockets. They do it all, and that’s great, in fact it’s pretty amazing how technology is advancing but did you know, even if your phone is off

just having it in visible sight is enough to be a distraction. The temptation to check instagram or tiktok is to much to handle, or for some us we binge watch our favorite shows, we say to ourselves just one more episode next thing we know we finish a whole season in a few hours. The phone doesn’t need to be on for it to make us do these repetitive and unproductive things, just seeing it is all it takes, now again nothing is wrong with cell phones they do make our lives a little easier and I’d be a hypocrite if I said that I haven’t looked at my phone at least 100 times today most of the time I was just bored. But we definitely need to make adjustments in our lives.

For example, we can limit the social media time usage, or if we’re working on something important move the cell phone to another room and don’t touch it until the task is done.

2. Procrastination.

Ah yes, one of the most devastatingly powerful enemies of productivity. There are an abundance amount of research and experiments done over this topic, but some of the most popular reasons why we procrastinate is due to

  • Fear of failure
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Avoidance

And even though, these are legit reasons but sometimes the best thing to do when we face these road blocks is to do something, anything. The more we procrastinate the less time we have, and it does us lazy at some point. You can’t just avoid a problem and expect it’ll just disappear on its own actions need to be taken to resolve things. It’s better to try and fail then to not try at all. That’s an even worse feeling, and I can relate.

3. Doing to much

Juggling multiple responsibilities at once doesn’t make you more productive, in fact it can me strenuous mentally. It’s always wise to handle one task at a time, if a job requires you to do more than you can actually bear especially if the pay isn’t worth it? then the best thing to do is to leave. There’s is no use getting burned out over something that’s causing more stress and taking more time from you.

So how do I make better use of my time?

Well, these were just a few examples of time wasters, we need to identify the habits that are making us waste time, and get rid of them in order to be more productive. According to a poll that was done in the U.K, the average adult waste 26 days per year or 12 hours a week and that’s not including sleeping because it’s a necessity. But, these individuals in the survey admitted that they lose track of time because of watching too much T.V, browsing the internet and etc…But limiting the amount of T.V we watch and length we spent browsing the web can be the start of breaking cycles of unproductivity.

Starting Over

-5 Ways to Start over-

A lot of times, we fall short when we’re trying to complete our goals. But this doesn’t mean that it’s the end. Having to do a re-do is not a failure, it’s a new opportunity to makes things right, whatever the project or goal(s) may be, there’s never a reason to completely quit. Here are 5 ways to start over.

1. Accept losses/Failures

Failure, Fail, Board, Loser, Scared Rabbit, Burst

We all know that it sucks to loose or come up short, whether in a sporting event, competition or just trying to accomplish something worth fighting for, if the objective is not meant then its a loss but, believe it or not, there’s always a silver lining in loosing or failing. For some people they learn from their mistakes, which is an extremely important tool when achieving success. When we look back and analyze how and in what areas we failed short, we can take notes and try different things so the same mistakes won’t happen again. Thomas Edison failed at inventing the light bulb 1,000 times, yet he still didn’t give up. Mr. Edison, accepted all of those failures and losses and kept chasing his goal, how many of us would even attempt 50 tries to accomplish something, let alone 1,000.

2. Let go of the old

Letting go of what was is part of starting over. For a lot of us it can be one of the most difficult decisions we can make. But why do we often dwell in the past? why is so hard to let it go? For many of us it’s hard to let go of the past because of

  • Emotional Trauma
  • A Bad experience
  • The inability to accept
  • Fear/Judgement
  • Comfort

There are times, some may require therapy to help deal with these reasons, but unfortunately we can’t change the past, everything in life is constantly moving forward, the way the world works it requires us to move on. Whether good or bad we can’t keep holding on to old events this can really delay growth in our lives and it can also ruin our future. Someone, once said that if he can go back at least 6 or 7 years into the past he would change so many things, this man isn’t too happy with how his life is now and he thinks that if he went back and perhaps try a little harder in school that he would have a much better job than he does now, he also thinks that he would undo an abundance amount of mistakes. This man used to think in a very unhealthy way about his current life not knowing his best moments are ahead of him; that man was me. I mean sure, tomorrow isn’t a sure thing but what if it is, each day that we wake up is another opportunity to start over, to forget all about yesterday and focus on the present. I recently had that realization myself, it can be done it’s going to take a lot of hard work and just a little faith, because sometimes that’s just the amount you need.

3. New PLan

person writing on white paper

Im sure we’ve all heard the expression “back to the old drawing board” before. There’s nothing wrong with coming up with new projects if our old ones didn’t work out. Sometimes, what we thought was the perfect idea or plan wasn’t the one for us and that’s ok. The same concept works for picking out a major, studies shows at least 80% of college students switch there major through out their college education. That’s a pretty big number, and not to say that there’s anything wrong with changing majors, but then again it does prolong the process, but the point is that its ok to go back and start over if plans or ideas don’t work out at first. Usually, this is the time of year when people start over, the start of the new year is the time when gyms get flooded with new members with new years resolution promises, many people also have a re-do when they experience a divorce in a marriage.

4. Make a Schedule

With some much going one in our lives, we can get easily sidetracked if we’re trying to accomplish a goal. Making a schedule can relieve some stress and put things in order. How many of us would make promises to our spouse or friends but we’d end breaking them because we wouldn’t remember them . Don’t worry it’s part of the imperfect package as a human, we’re naturally forgetful creatures. But scheduling our days in advance definitely helps, it also make time management more stable. Scheduling, is also helpful with procrastination. Some scientist came to the conclusion that, having a daily routine brings some people happiness. It’s very important that scheduling becomes a habit in our lives especially when starting over.

5. Cut ties with some people

It’s never ok to just completely shut someone off but, there are individuals that we should without a doubt to at least consider removing out of our lives. If your hanging around people who are not as goal oriented as yourself then it’s best to leave because there’s a strong chance that those individuals will bring you down with them. Examine your circle(without judging) what are your friends doing with their lives, how do they spend their weekends and nights, what substances do they put in their bodies? there are plenty more but, these are just the few things we should consider when we want to change our lives for the better. One of the most overlooked bible verse in 1 Corinthians 15:33 says “Don’t be deceived, bad company corrupts good character”. One version straight up says, “Bad friends will ruin good habits” if that’s not a crimson red flag then I don’t know what is. These are some of the things we should consider when we want to start over in our lives. IT’S NEVER TO LATE

-Achieving your Goals-

NEW YEAR 2021]: The Importance of Passion in Goal Setting - startupanz.com

3 Ways to Achieve your Goals

Let’s be honest, if somebody would’ve ask you where do you see yourself 6 months to a year from now would you have a definite answer? What about if you were ask where do you see yourself 5 to 10 years from now? scary right? The truth is many of us don’t have a clue what the future may bring. In fact, their might even be a tomorrow but just in case there is, just in case you get up the next morning are alive and well it’s important to set goals. And here are 3 ways to successfully achieve them.

  1. Know what you want

When you set goals for yourself it gives you a clear idea of what you want and how to achieve it. Sometimes just making a decision can be one of the toughest things to do in life, what college to go to? what career should I pursue? should I marry this one? When we don’t know what we want we just go circles and never see any changes in our lives. But when you know what you want….you

3. Discipline

This is the one of if not the most important factors for achieving –ANYTHING

Anybody that’s ever achieved any form of success have one thing in common, discipline. Its the only way to get to the next level, It takes mental toughness and strong will power to deny the things that brings us pleasure and temporary gratification, not saying those things are bad but, who wants to feel comfortable all the time? Where’s the challenge? The growth? The blood sweat and tears? Body builders don’t get where they are by seating on the couch all day. Companies don’t just conjure up from thin air and champions aren’t born they are made Through discipline. Comfort is a killer of dreams.

Never be late to anything

How many of us have been late more times then we can count? Lets take a moment…OK so after 3 hours of self reflecting we realize that punctuality is not one of hour strong suits. But why is it so important to get in the habit of being on time for EVERYTHING? There’s a number of reasons why but let’s tackle some of the more basic one for example…

Professionalism -(Work)

Work Time Cliparts - Cliparts Zone

Being on time for work automatically stands you out as more reliable and trustworthy than some of your co-workers who not always on time. Managers are going to notice that you are an employee that takes his job seriously and wants to advance in a company.

You Care

Even if it’s your neighbor’s 3 year old’s birthday party, the fact that you arrived not a minute to soon shows that you value their time and the importance of the event that’s being hosted.

Always be prepared- If you’re on time then you’re always ready to go. Nothing can ever catch you by surprise, not even a test because you actually arrive on time and are ready to knock it out because you know you studied.

passing a test - Drawception

It becomes a habit– It’s often said that practice makes perfect, call it crazy but the same can also be said about repeating a habit. Of course, it has to be a productive habit, something that’s going to benefit you. The rule of 21/90 states to commit to a personal or professional goal for 21 days straight. Once you’ve established that habit, you continue to do it for another 90 days. Sound’s easier said than done right? Let’s start a little smaller, how about we commit to not being late to anything for 1 week seven whole days and then go from there.

Change your habit, time it right

-Why getting over rejection is important-

If your like me, then you’ve been a victim of a couple of rejections, or at least one…I mean c’mon, at least one. Not one of the best feelings to experience, I mean no one wants to feel rejected but it’s just a part of life, sometimes it’s going to happen. There’s a few ways to get rejected, for example applying for a job that you really want and they turn you down, or your movie script being tossed in the trash or being rejected by the popular crew in grade school and last but certainly not least getting rejected by someone you like, that one stings the most honestly. But the point is everyone at some point of their lives have been rejected, and with it comes a lot of negative feelings, such as low self esteem, doubt, lack of confidence, and many more and it can be difficult navigating through life with these bad emotions because you can’t just magically make them disappear.

We should get over the feeling of rejection because eventually we’re going to have trust again. Believe or not, there are some people out there who would agree that, the best thing to do when someone rejects you is to close yourself off to everyone, and never trust again. But would you truly be happy? Trust is important, it allows us to be open to others especially in relationships. One of the greatest feelings to experience is a connection with someone, it’s as though this individual understands you or get’s you, as some would say. But we can’t just go out there and give our hearts to just anyone, we have to be careful, yes trust is important but so is choosing who to give it to, some people will only get close to us just to betray and hurt us, but there are some with good intentions. Before we can fully trust someone let’s play it safe first and not be in a hurry and give the best and most vulnerable parts of us to just anyone.

Another reason why we should get over rejections it’s because everyone deserves a chance to be happy again. If we keep holding on to the past and grieving over what happened we can miss out on a lot of good opportunities. Now, don’t get me wrong, it sucks to get rejected, and everyone needs to grieve it but, how long should you grieve? I literally know someone that has been grieving over a break up for 5 years now, and if your wondering? no it’s not me but to still be upset over a break up that happened 5 years ago is more than excessive, and this individual haven’t pursued any other relationships he has been stuck where he is at, it’s as if he doesn’t want to be happy again.

But that doesn’t really solve anything does it. We need to move forward, we need to leave the past where it belongs and pursue the here and now, now again it’s completely ok to be sad and grieve over these things but, if we stay in that mindset it’ll take a toll on our mental health.

-Never Judge others-

We human beings are notorious for making judgement. It’s just part of our nature. Unfortunately, it’s one of the bad parts. According to research, upon meeting someone, it only takes a fraction of a second for us to instantly make judgements on looks, likeability and trustworthiness. Yes, determine on who your are and you own personal beliefs you can argue that research and experiments doesn’t prove anything, but what about our behaviors, you can test yourself the next time you meet someone you’ve never seen or talk to before, what’s the first impression you make on them? Or how fast did it take you to make that impression? I’m sure we’ve all heard that ol’ saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” but, in reality that’s all we do and we usually stay with that mindset until proven wrong. Now if we go by statistics there are various reasons to place judgments, factors usually include race, country of origin, religion, etc… however, it’s not ok to just go by numbers alone because in a way we are putting people in a system. Not everyone thinks the same. Many times we judge others because we want to feel

SUPERIOR

Lets be honest, everyone gets the feeling of wanting to be superior one way or another. This is why we sometimes value our self worth based on how much money we make, what kind of car we drive, how many cars we have and having multiple sex partners, JUDGING OTHERS and many more worldly principles, but that’s because deep down we really feel insecure about our own short comings and self worth. Ultimately, it’s never enough we’re always going to have this emptiness in our hearts that not all the money, status or accomplishments will ever fill up. It’s sad that we’d rather put others down to hide what’s really going on inside of us. There’s always going to be someone out there who will judge you even for the smallest thing, and it’s easy to point fingers back at them, but why fight fire with fire, nobody wins. So how do I respond to judgemental people? There are many ways to handle someone who’s only seeing your flaws, but the best way for us to handle and to fight back against judgmental people is (Matthew 7:1) “do not judge or you will be judged, that same person will find people who will judge them the same way if not worse.

Human nature is certainly interesting, the way we see ourselves and the way we view others is not the way God intended for us to live. I always ask myself this, Imagine if Adam and Eve never ate the fruit and sinned against God how would life be today? Even if those two had it right and did everything right according His word, would someone mess it up down the road for the rest of humanity? The answer is OF COURSE, because humans it’s what we do, but, our beloved Creator still shower us with endless MERCY and even He doesn’t judge us the way we do ourselves, ” But the Lord said to Samuel do not judge by his appearance or height for I have rejected him, the Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge with outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).

-Unhealthy eating-

Wouldn’t it be great to eat how ever we wanted, whenever we wanted at any given age? I think a lot of people would agree with me but, unfortunately that’s not the case. The truth is, our eating habits(depending healthy or unhealthy) does have long consequenses on our bodies both physically and mentally. For example…

If someone has been eating junk food since he was in middle school and now he’s in his mid to late thirties with the same eating habit, there’s a high chance that this person is either overweight, and/or have some serious issues with his health. Such as obesity, if you’re constantly eating high and unhealthy calories amount of food and not exercising, the only outcome is weight gain and lots of it. With that comes other potentially fatal health issues like diabetes, heart failure, high blood pressure, difficulty breathing, cancers and so on and so forth. A 2019 study that was done shows that, poor eating habits kills more people than smoking tobacco, a lot of times we use certain foods to cope because they taste good, which makes us feel good. But too much of a good thing can cause you harm or worse kills you. Poor diets, have even been liked to mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. According to Healthline magazines, certain foods share a link from the stomach to the brain. Basically a diet consisting mostly fried food, processed food and sweet drinks increases the risk for depression and high sugar foods increase the chances of anxiety.

But why does eating junk feel so good? Why is it hard to stop? Why is it addictive?

As I mentioned in the paragraph above, we sometimes use food as a coping mechanism, and some foods make us feel good. It’s almost as if your using junk food to escape your problems. Why are some habits like eating junk hard to give up? Dopamine a.k.a the feel good hormone. This particular hormone has a lot to do with addictions and it’s not just food but tobacco, weed, drugs, pornography even music can be addicting.

When we eat these salty, fried, sugary foods, our brain release the dopamine receptors, and the more we engage in these eating habits the stronger the cravings get which will make it harder to resist. Any kind of addiction can will make life more difficult then it already is, but when dealing with these situations giving in is not the best thing to do. When anybody is dealing with any kind of addictions, a choice needs to be made, something has to be done if that includes seeking help, going on a diet, joining the gym then go for it. After, if we don’t take care of our problems then who will? or should. 1 Timothy 6 says to fight the good fight of faith, this verse is talking about about accepting God’s will daily and fleeing from immorality and fleshy desires but you can impute this verse into this topic as well, you can say I’m going to fight in faith believing that I will overcome any addictions or any problems that may come my way, because addictions and bad habits are not part of God’s will for us.

-INTEREST-

Is God really interested?

ok, so God is real, He is all powerful and high and mighty, He is the creator of the Universe and everything in it, why would He even care about me and what I do or how I do it?

This is what a lot of people think about God, we often think that our beloved Creator literally has millions of other things He’d rather be doing than to care about our everyday lives. It’s also, one of many reasons why those same people won’t even attempt to get to know Him. The truth is God cares about every thing we do to the last detail. Unlike us, God doesn’t require sleep nor does He needs to eat; He never get’s tired or weak He is awake 24/7, watching constantly this means that God’s main priority, is us all the time. Yet, how can some people say that He doesn’t care about them? Let’s go back to line three, “people won’t even attempt to get to know Him”, Sure, God can intervine in our lives whenever he chooses but the Lord will only work in our lives if we invite to, if we let him in (Rev 3:20). Our God is a gentleman, He is classy He doens’t just barge into our lives and demand to be worshipped, He wants us to willingly open our hearts to His goodness. Sometimes, it can feel like the Lord is distant, but the truth is we’re the ones that are too far to hear or even acknowlege him in our lives.

-5 WAYS NOT TO OVERTHINK-

I was having a conversation with my dad one time and he paused and asked me why do you overthink so much? I quickly answered I dont overthink and, at that moment I started to realize that he wasn’t the first person to say that to me. I’ve had co-workers that told that I overthink things even some friends, In fact some people upon meeting them for the first time would tell me that they can tell I tend to overthink. Does this happen to you? If it does it means your human and your not alone, it happens to everyone, we all at some point of our lives are going to overthink but when it’s gotten to the point that we can’t even make easy decisions? then something needs to change.

Here’s 5 simple ways not to overthink.

  1. Journal it
person in black adidas cap sitting on bench writing on notebook

Writing our thoughts down eases with stress and anxiety, sometimes there can be so much going on in heads that we can barely hear ourselves think. But writing things helps with clarity and decision making, its as if your cleaning your room but your head would be the room and your thoughts are the mess.

2. Plan Ahead

person writing bucket list on book

Why overthink if your already prepared? Procrastination is a recipe for disaster. If you know your supposed to get something done then work on that task. But it is easier said than done because according to recent data found on psychologytoday.com 20 to 25 percent of adult Americans procrastinate and according to Eudotopia.con 80 to 95 percent of college students procrastinate. If we can plan ahead and properly and, take action maybe we wouldn’t overthink so much about especially when it comes to due dates.

3. We can’t control everything

2 men playing basketball in grayscale photography

In life things happend, no one can control the weather it has a mind of its own. You can be healthy as a horse today and tomorrow out of nowhere you find yourself on a hospital bed with something you didn’t even know you had, our lives didn’t come with a manual (although it’d be incredible useful if it did) we are capable of doing amazing things but can’t do everything especially on our own. Its ok to need help, and its ok that you cant handle everything on your own.

4. Perfectionism

white and black i am a good girl card

You can’t call yourself a human if you’ve never made a mistake, there just a part of life. Now, wanting to do everything without any errors is a good thing it shows you take your work seriously but, expecting zero errors every time is just impossible. If you feel as though you always have more you need to do that just means there’s more to think about which leads to overthinking. In fact, there was a study done on everydayhealth.com that shows that perfectionism can lead to depression. Trying to be perfect will only leaves us mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted.

5. Give yourself a break

Take it easy and relax, we need to give our brains a break to refresh, go out with your friends, spend time with your family go on vacation treat your self.

man lying on white boat

Sometimes we just need to get away from all of the stress and overthinking.

people walking on beach during sunset

We were not born to stress out and overthink, there more to life then that. Don’t be afraid to fail, take a leap of faith and sometimes as hard as this may sound we just have to let some things be because we can’t control them but, that doesn’t it’s the end of a situation, things can and will change for the better. The next time your overthink remember to,

  • Journal it
  • Plan ahead
  • We can’t controll everything
  • No need for Perfection
  • Give yourself and break

-God to you-

Who is God to you? Everyone has their own definition of God, some good and others based on their own understanding not so good. Webster-dictionary defines the noun G-O-D as a perfect being that is worshipped and the one who created and rules the universe. But if someone would’ve have asked you out of the blue who is God to you what would your answer be?

The best definition of who God is? is in the Bible and though it describes Him in many different ways but the most accurate and straight foward one is in (1 John 4:16) God is Love. But let’s dissect that “L” word a little, the word Love has been overused so much that sometimes we forget what it means. People do it all the time, for example I love this movie, or I love these new sneakers, or what about I love the weather today and let’s not forget the most controversial one of all “I love you“. How many times have you or someone you know said this powerful phrase to someone else or vice versa. How would you show someone that you love him/her? Its more than just saying the phrase our actions have to prove our love. God has proven His love for you and I every day that we wake up. No one says that we are guaranteed to get up when we close our eyes, God makes it clear in (Proverbs 27:1) “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth, basically saying there’s no such thing as tomorrow. When we seat down and eat is also proven love from our beloved Creator, and the list goes on and on from as simple as breathing to being near death on a hospital bed from an inoperable sickness and all of a sudden the disease has disappeared and you’re on the road to recovery there’s no limit to God’s love in fact this His infinite goodness is shown in (John 3:16) ” For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Can you imagine being a parent and you have only one kid, just one and you tell your son/daughter to go die for a whole bunch of people that dont know who you are so that maybe one day they will know us because we love them, and yes the Son of God has risen on the third day and He seats at His Father’s right side but still that’s nuts right? That is the Love of God, that is who He is. We are not meant to understand but to believe.

-Wake Up Early 5 Reasons To Do It-

“Don’t Hit Snooze just Yet

old clock

How many people do you know that actually enjoy the idea of getting out of bed before the sun rises? -I know, not that many right- Some of you are probably wondering (Besides work or school) “why in the world would I get up early”? Our beds and that deep sleep feel so good that the idea of cutting it short brings disgust and discomfort to us, especially if we’re having a pleasant dream. But waking up exactly or before the crack of dawn has its share of benefits as well….

  1. Exercise

Early morning workouts are one of the best ways to start your day, it gives you that extra boost of energy to handle any situation that’s ahead of your day. Exercise in the morning also helps us sleep better at night, previous studies from the National Sleep Foundation proved that daily early morning workout routines has treated insomnia.

2. Breakfast.

Was once called “The most important meal of the day” the meal that adds fuel to your engine yet a lot of us skip breakfast every day. Waking up early means you have more time in your hands, some of that extra time can be used to have a healthy breakfast, A 2011 survey shows that 31 million Americans skipped breakfast every single day and that number has been rising over the last decade. Without a healthy breakfast we’re left sluggish, foggy and low energy which is one of the reasons why a lot of people especially those that work are drinking 2-3 cups of coffe a day.

3. Ahead on Work

The early bird gets the worm” The earlier you get up and the more time you have on your hands the more you’ll get done. If you get into the habit of waking up before the sun rises, you can use that time to be productive and get a early start on your work. This would make you a better employee, business owner, and entrepreneur. Many choose early mornings to work on other projects such as…

  • Side Hustles
  • Small businesses
  • Start ups
  • Freenlance work

4. PLAN

We can get overwhelmed at times with our hectic shedules, that’s why it’s best to plan your day and one of the best ways to do that is when you’re up before everybody else. It’s helped to know where your day is going so there wouldn’t be much confusion.

5. QUITE TIME

Shout

This is the best time to really do some soul searching. Many people choose early mornings to engage in activities such as reading and writing. Other’s choose this time to get closer to God. In fact, it’s even said in the Bible that Jesus would seek God early in the morning while his disciples were still sleeping and there many verses indicating that it’s best to seek the Lord early in the morning while it’s still peaceful and quite for example “Psalm 63:1-5  O God, You are my God early will I seek You my soul thirsts for You,  my flesh faints for You, in a dry and thirsty land with no water.” the Pslamist David did 2 things here, he regonized that there is a living God and he made a declaration that he would seek and get to know him when? “EARLY“.
